Analysis of Pseudo-Turbulence Flow Induced by Bubble Periodic Formation in Non-Newtonian Fluids

Laser Doppler Velocimetry (LDV) has been employed to determine pseudo-turbulence characteristics of the flow field around bubble train forming in non-Newtonian caboxymethylcellulose (CMC) aqueous solution at low gas flow rate condition. The Reynolds stress and turbulent intensity of the liquid were investigated by means of Reynolds time-averaged method. The experimental results show that ax...

Turbulence in Fluids

The seminar gives an introduction to turbulent motions of incompressible fluids. Due to the nature of the subject, most of the explanations are qualitative, although references to the actual fundamental equations underlying the processes are also made. Special emphasis is made on the dynamics of vorticity in turbulent flows and the main results of the celebrated Kolmogorov 1941 theory.

Magnetic turbulence in compressible fluids

We present high resolution numerical simulations of compressible magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) turbulence. We concentrate on studies of spectra and anisotropy of velocity and density. We describe a technique of separating different magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) modes (slow, fast and Alfven) and apply it to our simulations. For the mildly supersonic case, velocity and density show anisotropy. However, f...

Soft depletion in binary fluids.

We show theoretically that a binary fluid characterized on a mesoscopic scale by purely repulsive short-range interactions without cores possesses an effective attraction between like particles. This "soft depletion effect" is a generic phenomenon driving a mixing-demixing transition in a binary system with pure repulsions.

Study of Parameters Affecting Separation Bubble Size in High Speed Flows using k-ω Turbulence Model

Shock waves generated at different parts of vehicle interact with the boundary layer over the surface at high Mach flows. The adverse pressure gradient across strong shock wave causes the flow to separate and peak loads are generated at separation and reattachment points. The size of separation bubble in the shock boundary layer interaction flows depends on various parameters. Reynolds-averaged...
